Is one of the largest University in Italy, is made up of thirteen schools, eighty-two departments, an academic staff of more than 3,000 individuals. Current student enrolment is about 100,000. Several institutes of excellence for the research promote inter-institutional research and collaboration. The scientists from Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Naples Federico II that will participate in the proposed project are members of the Department of Chemistry of Natural Products and of the ”Centro Regionale di Competenza in Diagnostica e Farmaceutica Molecolari”, an Interdepartmental Research Center for the discovery and the study of new drugs The Department o f Chemistry of Natural Products has a long standing tradition in the field of marine natural products since the pioneristic works in the early 60’s.

Role in the project

  • Preparation of the crude extracts for beneficiaries (WP1)
  • Separation, fractionation of the crude extracts (WP2)
  • Organic synthesis of the most promising compounds in amounts needed for further work, synthesis of new derivatives of the most promising leads (WP5)
