The University of Ljubljana (http://www.uni-lj.si) is the biggest and oldest higher education and research institution in the county with more than 56,000 students and 26 faculties employing 3,500 teaching and research staff. The Faculty of Pharmacy (FFA) with more than 1,200 students and over 100 faculty staff is strongly involved in basic and applied research financed by government (68%), industry (21%) and EU projects (11%). FFA has excellent research collaboration with pharmaceutical industry, which has resulted in numerous international patents. FFA has valuable experience in managing EU projects and will be involved in three FP7 EU projects in 2011. In MAREX will participate scientists from the Chair of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the biggest Faculty research and teaching unit.

• Design and synthesis of analogs, mimetics and lead compounds (WP5)
• Structure-activity and structure-property relationship analyses (WP5)
• Bioactivity testing (WP3)
